Chapter 1257 Hard Carrying
Chapter 1257 Hard Carrying
"…I guess this should be a good spot."
Running across the outskirts surrounding Daffors Village, the two of them stopped running around a couple of hours later, with Valyr briefly taking a look of their current surroundings.
Activating [Analysis] every once in a while on the beasts and monsters that appeared within his vision, the young man soon nodded in satisfaction before looking at Thomas beside him.
"Remember what I told you earlier?"
"Yeah." Thomas nodded, gesturing to Valyr that he was just catching his breath. "Grind to Level 10 first before heading to the Verdant Woodlands, right?"
"This is where we'll be grinding those levels," replied the young man as he nodded with a grin.
"We're about five kilometers away from the village, which means there won't be much people who'd fight us over the monsters."
"However, that also means that the monsters and beasts we'll be up against have considerably higher levels than the ones nearer to the village," said Valyr, prompting Thomas' expression to turn solemn.
"How much of an increase are we talking?" asked Thomas in return, to which Valyr replied by using [Analysis] on one of the monsters.
Ding!

"Oh. Well, that doesn't seem too bad," said the man as he took a look at Valyr's screen. "Looks doable."
"If you were at the same level as the wolf, then probably." Valyr slightly tilted his head from side to side in response. "Speaking of which, have you checked your stats yet?"
Hearing those words, Thomas slightly raised his eyebrow in curiosity before asking the system to bring up his status screen.
Unsurprisingly, almost all of the color on his face disappeared the moment he took a look at it, which made him to look at Valyr with a hint of apprehension soon after.
"…Were you waiting for me to fight it headfirst and use me as bait or something?" asked Thomas back, slightly shuddering at the thought. "With a strength disparity like that, even 10 of me combined would probably die to that wolf."
Valyr let out a slight chuckle at those words. "You do know I wouldn't have brought you here if I weren't confident myself, no?"
"Well, yeah… but still," replied Thomas after giving it a bit of thought. "Are you telling me the two of us together could take on that wolf without any problems?"
"Trust me, Thomas," replied Valyr with a grin.
"I've got this."
"…" Scratching the back of his head for a bit, Thomas eventually let out a sigh. "Well, if you say so."
"Now that's more like it." Adding Thomas to his party as he let out yet another chuckle, Valyr told the man to wait for his signal before slowly making his way towards the wolf.
Whoosh!
Seeing that the wolf seemed to be looking around for prey, Valyr took the opportunity to move in its blind spot, utilizing his high dexterity in the process to move as stealthily as possible.
Keeping an eye on all of the wolf's movements as he continued to move closer, the young man eventually appeared behind the wolf a minute later, which caused Thomas' eyes to widen in slight surprise as he saw it all unfold.
"Haah!" Taking advantage of the fact that the wolf was still unaware, Valyr did not hesitate to pin the wolf to the ground, which prompted him to look at Thomas with a hint of urgency.
"Now, Thomas!"
"R-right!" Still dazed by the fact that Valyr easily handled what was a difficult foe for him on his own, it took a while for Thomas to snap back to reality.
Nevertheless, once he did, he showed no hesitation in charging towards the wolf, relying on the experience he'd accumulated while playing other VRMMORPGs to deal as much damage to the wolf as possible.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Without any weapon to his name, the man was forced to rely on a series of kicks and punches, timing all of his attacks whenever the wolf stopped flailing around.
Of course, even if it did continue to flail around, Valyr was there to keep the wolf in place with his absurd strength, allowing the man to continue attacking as he saw fit.
With that, after what felt like an eternity, Thomas was eventually able to whittle the wolf's health down to 0.
"I… did it," murmured the man to himself in slight disbelief as he looked at his fists that had been punching the wolf this entire time. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Hearing the notifications resound in his mind a few seconds later, it was only then did his actions so far finally sink in, causing him to shake his fists with glee as he took a look at his notifications.
"I… did it!"
Suppressing the excitement he was feeling, Thomas immediately took note of the fact that the system told him that he gained more experience due to him fighting above his level.
Getting the feeling that Valyr brought him to this place for that reason, the man went ahead and allocated the experience he gained from the wolf towards his level, bringing him up to Level 2.
Swoosh!
Feeling greater strength course throughout his body, Thomas then proceeded to allocate his unused stat points towards STR, briefly thinking about the path he'd take as he went through the levels.
"Ready for another one?" Sensing that Thomas' aura had gotten slightly stronger, Valyr looked at him with a slight grin as he released his grip over the previously alive wolf.
"What level are you at, exactly?" Although he nodded in response to his question, Thomas threw a question of his own back at the young man.
"Did you not check the party list?" said Valyr in response, prompting the man to immediately take a look at it in return.
"…Level 3?" Unsurprisingly, Thomas looked at him in confusion the moment he obtained his answer, not understanding how Valyr was able to keep the wolf pinned to the ground with his current level.
"I'll answer that later." Naturally, the young man already knew what was going on in his friend's mind, inwardly letting out a chuckle at the reaction he got.
"For now, let's focus on getting our levels up, shall we?"
