Chapter 283 Heroine and Lucan's Fight 2
Nyx stood several meters away from Lucan and Maris, her eyes narrowing as she sized them up. The power radiating from Lucan was disconcerting, more so because she still couldn't fully comprehend how it worked. Maris, now fully recovered, was a different kind of threat—a sheer force of nature that could crush her if she let her guard down.
The problem wasn't just their individual strength—it was how well they worked together.
For a brief moment, Nyx entertained the thought of continuing the fight, confident in her abilities to hold her own against them. But she wasn't foolish. Fighting both Lucan and Maris at full strength simultaneously left room for uncertainty. The possibility of losing was real, and Nyx hated uncertainty.
Winning was the only thing that mattered, and right now, she wasn't one hundred percent sure of the outcome.
Better to retreat. Better to come back when she was even stronger.
Nyx began to draw on her teleportation magic, preparing to vanish and leave them behind. But before she could move, Lucan's voice echoed through the air, calm and steady.
"Seal. Space."
Nyx froze. Immediately, she felt the shift in the air around her. The teleportation magic she had been channeling was suddenly cut off. She tried again, only to feel a wall of invisible force holding her in place. Lucan had sealed the space, trapping her inside with them. She clicked her tongue in frustration.
"Of course," Nyx muttered under her breath. "So that's your game."
There was no running now. She'd have to fight her way out.
In an instant, Maris launched herself toward Nyx, her fist swinging with enough power to obliterate anything in its path. Nyx teleported at the last second, appearing a few feet behind Maris and lashing out with a spatial blade. But Maris was quick, spinning around with unnatural speed and delivering a brutal kick aimed at Nyx's midsection. Again, Nyx teleported, appearing just outside Maris's range.
"Stop."
Lucan's voice cut through the chaos, and Nyx found herself frozen for a fraction of a second. Maris took advantage of the pause, closing the distance with blinding speed. She slammed her fist toward Nyx's face, but the Dark Magician broke free just in time, teleporting once more.
Nyx reappeared above them, her hand raised as she conjured a wave of spatial energy, warping the air around her. She flung it down at Maris and Lucan, the ground beneath them distorting and cracking as the magic surged toward them. But Maris jumped forward, leaping out of the way, while Lucan raised his hand.
"Pull."
Nyx felt a sudden yank, her body being pulled off balance toward Lucan. She teleported mid-flight, reappearing behind him with her hand raised to strike, but Maris was already there. A devastating punch sailed toward her ribs, and Nyx barely managed to teleport out of range again.
Sweat beaded on her forehead. This was becoming a game of inches, each teleportation draining more of her mana. She had underestimated them both—Lucan's commands were simple but lethal, and Maris was a relentless force. She could feel the mana reserves dwindling inside her, each teleportation costing more than the last.
"You're slowing down," Maris taunted, her voice cold as she advanced. "What's the matter, Nyx? Running out of tricks?"
Nyx gritted her teeth, refusing to show any weakness. She needed to turn the tide of the battle, and fast. She narrowed her eyes, channeling her remaining energy. If she couldn't overpower them with brute strength, she'd bend time itself.
With a flick of her hand, Nyx activated her time magic, pausing the flow of time around Lucan and Maris. The two of them froze mid-motion, caught in the grip of her power. Nyx smirked, stepping forward leisurely toward Maris, her eyes gleaming with malice. She raised her hand, preparing to strike, but before her blow could land, she felt the time magic beginning to unravel.
Lucan's voice rang out, even in the stillness.
"Resume."
Time snapped back into place, and Maris spun around, her fist colliding with Nyx's outstretched hand. Nyx stumbled back, cursing under her breath. Lucan's power was even interfering with her manipulation of time. She rewound the moment, trying to get the upper hand, but again, Lucan's voice cut through her magic.
"Stop."
Nyx found herself frozen again, only for Maris to close the gap once more. The two were working together in perfect synchronization, each attack building off the other's.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
The battle raged on, high intensity and relentless. Nyx teleported in short bursts, dodging and striking wherever she could, using everything in her arsenal—spatial magic, time manipulation, and sheer skill. But every move she made, Lucan countered with a word, and Maris matched her with brutal strength.
The ground beneath them shattered under the force of Maris's blows, mountains in the distance quaking as the shockwaves of their battle tore through the landscape.

Lucan's command sent Nyx flying backward once more, her body crashing through several trees before she came to a halt, panting. She had to admit it now—this was becoming a losing battle. Her mana reserves were dangerously low, and teleporting was becoming harder and harder. Each time she tried to escape Maris's blows, it cost her more energy than she could afford to lose.
Maris, on the other hand, seemed unstoppable. She launched herself at Nyx again, her fist aimed squarely at her chest. Nyx teleported to avoid the strike, but Lucan's voice rang out again.
"Pull."
Nyx felt the force drag her back toward Lucan, directly into Maris's range. She teleported again, but her movements were slower now, more desperate.
The fight continued, Nyx darting from place to place, Maris destroying everything in her path with sheer brute force, and Lucan controlling the battlefield with his commands. But Nyx was running out of time—and mana.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity of battle, Nyx tried to teleport one more time, but her body refused. Her mana was depleted. She was out of energy. She could see Maris coming, her fist cocked back, ready to strike.
There was no escape.
Maris's punch landed squarely on Nyx's face with a sickening crack, sending her flying across the battlefield. Nyx crashed into the ground, skidding to a halt, dazed and bloodied. For the first time in the fight, she couldn't teleport away.
She lay there, breathing heavily, blood trickling from her nose and mouth. Maris stood over her, her chest heaving with exertion, but her eyes were filled with cold satisfaction. Nyx had finally run out of tricks.
Now, she was able to pay back what Nyx has done to her.
