Infinite Potential System

Chapter 404 Now That's More Like It!

"Huh?" Fria wasn't expecting the sudden question. "Oh, that's because they're afraid of you. The death penalty is quite steep, you know. Most Players are convinced that you've laid claim to the World Cores, and they don't benefit the more powerful Cultivators that much anyway, so they've chosen to ignore them as a whole."

Fria explained to William how when Players died, they would lose forty percent of their Potential Points and twenty-five percent of their stored Cultivation Base. For a Cultivator in the Tribulation Transcendence Realm, twenty-five percent was equivalent to millions of Spirit Qi.

Not to mention how difficult it already was to earn Potential Points. Many Players would have to spend months saving up Potential Points just to upgrade a single Talent to SS or SSR-Rank. They couldn't afford to die in this stage of the game.

William nodded in understanding. Players didn't have access to the Potential Farms like he did, so they were missing out on a huge advantage. He wondered if he would be the same way if he was a Player.

System, if these Players can respawn, doesn't that mean that I can too?

-Nope. Your death will be permanent, and both your soul and consciousness will be sent to Hell.

Damn it. William complained inwardly. He had expected that his death was different from the others, but the System confirming it made him feel bad.

"You wanted to hunt Magical Beasts, right?" William asked his sister.

"Yes! I'm so bored, all I want to do is beat something up!" Fria made an aggressive expression as she punched at the air.

William laughed, "Alright, come with me."

He and Fria only had to fly half a kilometer before William reached a group of seven Lesser Chaos Veins. He sat down cross legged in front of each of them, asking the System to absorb all seven at once.

With his Cultivation in the Soul Formation Realm and the System at A-Rank, absorbing seven Lesser Veins at once was an easy task, even if it was related to the Legendary Chaos Element.

In less than thirty minutes, William had completely absorbed the Lesser Chaos Veins in the area and a small Beast Tide of roughly two hundred Magical Beasts in the Golden Core Realm formed.

William had the System hatch a group of ten Legendary Ancient Gravitas Mummies and push them to the Tribulation Transcendence Realm, but he ordered them not to fight the Magical Beasts in the area unless he and Fria were not present.

This way, the Companion Beasts could deal with the regular Beast Tides after they left, but Fria could farm for Points now.

With a single sweep of her ethereal greatsword, Fria cleaved all two hundred Magical Beasts in half, hardly a warmup for someone like her.

She turned around to face William angrily, "That's it? These small fry are useless, that was hardly a few hundred Potential Points!"

"I'm not done yet, there will be more." William waved his hand in dismissal as he reached a second area full of Chaos Veins.

Just like before, he absorbed all of them at once and triggered a slightly larger Beast Tide to form, which Fria swept away in an instant. He continued this routine for the next few hours, absorbing more and more Chaos Veins until every Lesser and Standard Vein had been absorbed.

Even after all the Standard Veins of the Chaos Element were gone, Fria still wasn't satisfied. She flicked the edge of her greatsword away, dispersing the blood on its ethereal surface into the environment as her brows furrowed.

She had to admit that the Points were better than before, but they still weren't comparable to what she could probably earn from the Ascended Realms.

William looked at his sister's expression and could clearly tell that she wanted more Beasts to fight, so he looked in the distance at the group of five Greater Chaos Veins.

I have ten years to absorb all the Lesser and Standard Veins, yet it's only been a bit over a year. In four months or less, I'll have finished the first Quest. he calculated in his mind.

Considering how long it took me to absorb the Greater Fire Vein back then, it should take me roughly the same amount of time to absorb the Greater and Superior Cores. Even if it's quadruple that, I'll still have almost two years to spare...

With that in mind, William decided to initiate the second System Quest and give his sister some higher-quality Magical Beasts to fight. Just in case, though, he hatched ninety more Legendary Ancient Gravitas Mummies and upgraded them all to S-Rank, pushing them close to the peak of the Tribulation Transcendence Realm.

The total cost for all one hundred was only 1,382,500 Potential Points, so William barely even felt the purchase. He still wasn't sure if it was enough to handle the might of the Heavens, but William supposed that as long as he was present to assist, the Magical Beasts could defend the Continents until he fully released the World's suppression.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

William wasn't able to absorb all the Greater Chaos Veins at the same time as he could with the Lesser and Standard Veins. The distance between them was too great, and the System couldn't reach so far. That said, his absorption speed was much faster than before, only taking roughly half a day to absorb one.

To Fria's dismay, William informed her that the Beast Tides probably wouldn't appear until the next day, so she was forced to log off and wait yet again. This was the trend of Cultivation games, though, so she was used to it.

Golden light enveloped the World as the third Greater Chaos Vein was absorbed, followed by dark clouds that covered the Arcturis Continent as far as the eye could see. The native Cultivators of the Arcturis Continent looked to the sky in shock, while the older ones were surprised to see a duplicate scene of the one from hundreds of years ago.

"This is just like... the one on Azures..." the peak Cultivators muttered to themselves as they concealed their auras and hid inside their cave abodes. They had no intention of competing with the Heavens that ruled over the very Tribulations they worked so hard to endure.

Magical Beasts across the globe lost all sense of self, only the ones hatched by William immune to the bloodthirsty emotions that told them to kill all humans. They broke free from their restraints, ignoring their summoners and lashing out with immense strength.

Even Carl, who was still on the Velos Continent, felt his summoning scroll tremble as the Shadog and other Beasts fought hard to break free. He was forced to trigger his heavenly mark to wrest them back under his control, but even that would only hold for a short amount of time.

A massive portal opened in the sky, sending all the bloodthirsty Magical Beasts raining down on the Arcturis Continent, their claws, paws, and hooves creating massive craters in the earth. Wisps of golden light enveloped each of the enraged beasts, boosting their strength to the peak of the Tribulation Transcendence Realm in an instant as they roared to the sky.

William tried to count all the Magical Beasts, but he couldn't, even with the X-Rank Mathematics Talent as part of his Celestial Jack Of All Trades. Their numbers easily reached the tens of millions, billions if one included the tiny insect-like Magical Beasts whose strength was also artificially increased.

"Now that's more like it!" Fria gleamed as she extended her ethereal greatsword to a length of ten kilometers, slamming downward with incredible strength and nearly shattering the Continent into two halves.
